Rebel 250 or Vulcan 500

Hey all
I am currently choosing between a 2005 Rebel 250 (13k miles and $1800 price) and a 1992 Vulcan 500 (32k miles and $1600 price).
This will be my first bike. I am 6'1" and 180 pounds. Is there anything i should look out for? what should i expect out of the bikes? are they good to own?
