LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
    Singapore, ~SGD1500 (preferably <= S$1300)
  • Are you open to refurbs/used?
    No
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
    I prioritise performance and build quality. Battery life and form factor are not important to me.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you?
    Not at all, will be using it at home.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
    13-15 inches, but not picky
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
    VMWare Pro Workstation with Kali Linux
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
    NA
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
    I'll need an i7 core (has to be Intel), 16GB RAM and a webcam. Looking for a reliable build quality, preferably something that doesn't overheat too often. A good keyboard will be nice but willing to sacrifice. Do not need good touchpad since I will be using a mouse.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
    I don't need all the bells and whistles like good camera or good audio quality. Just need a reliable affordable laptop with i7 core and 16GB RAM. I will be using it for penetration testing and mainly using VMWare Pro Workstation with Kali Linux.

Thanks for your help!
