Post Body

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
$600-850 - USA. We live in Maine, so no micro centers
  • Are you open to refurbs/used?
She would, but would prefer new
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Battery life needs to be actually over 6 hours, build quality is super important (she wants to get over 5 years out of it and we do have kids, though they should not touch it, we still have kids).
She would actually prefer to NOT have a Touchscreen or a 2-in-1 design though is fine with it.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you?
She does not like our current yoga laptop because it is too heavy weighing in at 4.5lbs.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
    N/A
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Just writer apps like Scribner, but she does tend to have 6 tabs open in chrome.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
    N/A
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Backlit keyboard is important. Prefer to NOT have a Touchscreen. Everything else give or take.
    512GB SSD
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
This laptop will never play a game. It will be carried around daily in a laptop bag. External mouse and when home will probably be plugged into a ergo keyboard. She is not picky, but she hardly ever ask for anything, so I want to get her the best.

ALSO. NO MACS. She had a terrible experience with a few apple products and swore them off. Even a joke about the Macbook Air was meet with some serious eye daggers.

Looking at these ATM:

LG Gram 14" I7-1165G7, 8GB, 512GB SSD, 2.2lbs (899$)
slightly out of budget

Lenovo Yoga 6 13.3" AMD Ryzen 7 5700U, 16GB, 512 SSD, 3lbs (699$)
Worried it will cheap, weird fabric cover, getting heavy, and its a 2-in-1
