LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
    -$800 preferably, but $1000 max.
  • Are you open to refurbs/used?
    -Yeah, but I'd prefer new.
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
-Build Quality/performance equally, then Battery Life, and Form factor is not a major factor at all. I don't take my laptop with me very often. A 2-in-1 would be kinda cool, but I'd rather have amazing performance and build quality than a flimsy 2-in-1.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you?
-Not very. It'll be mostly carried around the house, not out and about with me.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
-Not really? The keyboard size is a bigger factor for me than the screen size as I dont like hooking up extra input devices to my laptops other than maybe a mouse. My current laptop is a 15" I believe (it's a 10 year old Toshiba Satellite model).
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
-No major gaming. I'll be using it for emulating DS/3DS games. But I do want to be able to do some 3D modeling on it as I have a 3D printer (Currently using AutoCAD Fusion360), and get I plan to start learning python soon, so something that can handle coding easily would be nice as well.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
-No real gaming. But I don't want any lag when emulating.
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
-Good Build quality is priority. I'd also like something "upgradeable" to help me extend the lifespan of it. Non-soldered RAM at minimum. A touch screen would be nice, but not even remotely necessary.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
-My current laptop is slowly dying, but not in need of immediate replacement. So I can wait a bit for a deal as well.
