Post Body

Hi everyone. Looking for something that runs better than my lenovo yoga and that I can play some of my steam/origin games on.

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
Range is $600-800, but preference is 6-700.
  • Are you open to refurbs/used?
    Would prefer new
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Biggest priority for me is performance and then quality. I want something that won't lag too much and overwork itself with games like Sims and the Sporcle website that's riddled with ads.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you?
    Not very.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
15.6 preferred. Open to 17 but working off an 11 in for a few years will make that a big leap.
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
    Just gaming, will list below.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Sims, Steam, CSGO, Jackbox in conjunction to streaming (game nights during a pandemic), Star Wars: KOTOR
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
I'd like a backlit keyboard, but it's not a deal breaker.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I'm pretty against Acer because I think quality is suspect. I'm on the fence about ASUS. Been looking at two laptops, but really don't know how to rate the specs. Looking at the lenovo ideapad gaming 3 and the hp pavilion gaming laptop.
