Post Body
Hello! I’m an artist who will be studying animation 2D and 3D but I specialize in 2D for now. I would love to know what laptop will be the most bang for my buck.
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
- $1,700 USD (slightly flexible, could be higher if needed but preferably it would not be)
- Are you open to refurbs/used?
- No
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? *Battery life is kind of important but I’m willing to sacrifice it if I can have a better color accuracy and as well as lots of ram and memory. I’m not looking for a touch screen because I use a drawing tablet. Also the way it looks is no big deal to me.
- How important is weight and thinness to you?
- I don’t really mind just nothing to thin or too bulky.
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
- N/A
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
- I will be using these programs: Toon Boom Harmony, Tv Paint, Blender, Paint Tool Sai, Clip studio paint, and some of the adobe suite. As for video editing I use Sony Vegas pro.

- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
- I don’t game often but if it can handle things like VR chat that’s a plus, but not necessarily.
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? *I want a laptop that can last for a long time at least 4 years. I would like it to have a built in keyboard and any kind of common USB ports are good.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
- I would like it to be at Least i7 I heard that’s the best for artists.
Thanks for the help!!
