- EDIT: Laptop Found
I have looked at so many options and can’t decide. Looking for something between $700-$800 (maybe a little higher) that has high enough performance for multitasking and photo editing. Should (hopefully) last me all 4 years. I am a PC user, so MacBooks are a no-go. I don’t want something that cuts cost by sacrificing display quality. I was set on the Acer Swift 3 for a while but I’m too hesitant to get it because of the dim display. Please, college students or incoming freshmen let me know what you use.
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:**
$700-800
Are you open to refurbs/used?
Yes, but would definitely prefer new.
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Needs sufficient battery life to last a 6-7 hour school day. Needs high enough performance for photo editing and maybe light gaming. Just needs to be quality enough to last 4 years.
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Not very important. Sub 5 pounds is fine.
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
Above 13’’
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Probably Photoshop. Maybe light to moderate gaming.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Likely won’t game with anything too serious. Minecraft would probably be just about the only thing i’d play on this laptop. Would prefer recommended settings.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
I would like a backlit keyboard that is user friendly. Does not need to be 2-in-1 but I am not against it at all. Would prefer that it has a few USB ports.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
