Post Body

  • Total budget and country of purchase: $1200 US
  • Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I prefer I solid unit. Not really a fan of touch screen on a laptop. Need the laptop to be able to run virtual machine so I can mimic work lab environment for testing. Would like to play games on my down time with decent specs. Games that I play are Warcraft and Fornite.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you? This is extremely important. I do a lot of traveling. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series and it is way too heavy to keep caring around in my trips.
  • Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. I usually use Windows for home use and games but use Linux at work, so either of those are good.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. 14" or 15" would be ideal
    • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. VMware workstation pro or CentOS virtualization. World of Warcraft and Fornite. Other than that just basic office applications.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? At least medium on both Warcraft and Fornite.
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Good build quality. I will be using this while traveling and I travel a lot for my job. Don't need it want a tough screen.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I would prefer something that has a dedicated GPU. I would also like it to not look to much like a gaming laptop. A bonus would be back lit keyboard.
