Total budget and country of purchase: My budget is around $1000, but I wouldn't mind going a few hundred dollars more for a better laptop. Definitely nothing over $1500. As for country I live in the United States.
Do you prefer a 2 in 1 form factor, good battery life or best specifications for the money? Pick or include any that apply. I' am not the most tech savy person but with the research I did before posting a 2 in 1 laptop is not what I'm looking for. A good battery life is important, and for what I will be using the laptop for mid range specifications would probably be best.
How important is weight and thinness to you? I would be using this laptop as my main computer since I don't have a desktop. With that being said I will be moving it around a lot for school so preferably something on the lighter side.
Which OS do you require? Windows, Mac, Chrome OS, Linux. After using this Macbook Air for the better part of 3 years I definitely like windows a bit more. The Mac OS was still perfectly fine though but I did miss the familiarity of windows. I' am capable of using both, but windows would be my preference.
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. A 13 inch screen would be enough.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I'm currently studying for a business degree and so far the majority of programs I've used have been Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. As for gaming the only games I play aren't the most demanding. I play mostly Gwent which is a card game similar to Hearthstone and Old School Runescape.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? My Mac wasn't the best at running games so I never really bothered playing any type of demanding game. With that being said I wouldn't mind exploring maybe a few PC games, but nothing too crazy like the Witcher 3 that I know requires a pretty decent rig to play.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I've never been a big fan of touch-screen on a laptop so it's not necessary as I know they do usually add a bit to the price. Definitely a reliable build, good keyboard, and accurate touchpad.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. Overall I would like this laptop to last me for a few years. It will be used as my main computer and for general purpose things like email, netflix, schoolwork, and light gaming. I have been doing a quite of bit of research and so far the Dell XPS line, Razer Blade Stealth, and the Lenovo Carbon have caught my eye. Like I said though I am not the most tech savy person out there so I'm not too sure what would be best for me in terms of configurations since I know most laptops have various specifications for the same model. I' am not dead set however on those three laptops I named and am open to any suggestions.
