LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Country of purchase: USA
Budget range: up to $3,000
Purpose (netbook, ultraportable, mainstream, gaming, desktop replacement, etc.): Gaming
Screen size preference: 15-17"
OS preference (Windows/Mac/Linux): Windows
Gaming requirements (list example games and desired fps/settings): current future at 60fps ultra
Other performance requirements (video editing, CAD, etc.):
Portability requirements (constantly carried, frequently moved, mostly stationary, etc.): travelling a lot through airports, needs to fit in carryon bag stowed below seat alongside another laptop
Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business compatibility): none
Any particular style that you like (examples are great): function over form
Which of the following qualities would you prefer? (Choose one or two)
Long battery life -vs- Low weight -vs- High performance: High performance, then low weight. Battery life isn't an issue as I will only be using it plugged in
Build quality -vs- Low price: Build Quality over price
List any critical features: 980m 8GB, i7 processor
Which features would you pay a premium for? (eg. high resolution screen, great keyboard/touchpad/audio, low noise/heat): best gaming performance money can buy
Title says most of what I'm looking for
980m (most important), prefer 8GB
15"-17" IPS display (are 144Hz laptops possible?)
16GB Ram
Don't care about drives, I have a spare 500GB Samsung EVO, don't need optical
1080p is OK but 1440p or even 4k would be nice as long as i can run at lower rez if needed
Definitely i7, prefer skylake but as long as it's not much difference I dont' care
Don't care about audio, will use headphones
Prefer it not to weight a shitton, but don't need an ultrabook. I will be carrying around this and a work laptop (HP OmniBook) through many airports so I don't want to break my back.
Anything else I am missing, ask me and I'll provide.
