LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Country of purchase: USA

  • Budget range: $1,000-$1,500

  • Purpose (netbook, ultraportable, mainstream, gaming, desktop replacement, etc.): Ultraportable, Gaming,

  • Screen size preference: 13" - 15.6"

  • OS preference (Windows/Mac/Linux): OSX or Windows

  • Gaming requirements (list example games and desired fps/settings): Garrys Mod, CSGO, League of Legends, Hearthstone, Minecraft

  • Other performance requirements (video editing, CAD, etc.): Some programming

  • Portability requirements (constantly carried, frequently moved, mostly stationary, etc.): Constantly Carried/Frequently Moved

  • Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business compatibility): Would like too avoid HP if possible (their build quality sucks in my book.), I currently have an Asus Q501LA, and haved owned Dell in the past. Have also played with Macbooks a bit.

  • Any particular style that you like (examples are great): XPS 13/15, Macbook Air/Pro (2015), Razer Blade, Asus G501JW, Lenovo X1 Carbon, Lenovo Y510P/Y410P

Which of the following qualities would you prefer? (Choose one or two)

  • Long battery life -vs- Low weight -vs- High performance: Low Weight > Long Battery Life > High Performance

  • Build quality -vs- Low price: Build Quality

List any critical features: Weight below 4.5 lbs, Battery Life around 6/5 hours when not gaming (anything better than that is spectacular!), Minimum 1080P screen.

Which features would you pay a premium for? (eg. high resolution screen, great keyboard/touchpad/audio, low noise/heat): Low weight, better gaming performance, build quality.

I currently have an Asus Q501LA, and while it currently does the job OK, I've decided it may be time too switch too something else. While gaming performance is important, I'm also concerned about weight. I would really prefer too keep the weight of the device below 5 lbs, anything under 4 would be amazing (which is why I have considered Macbooks). I do have a Desktop on which I can play more graphic intensive games, but being able too play some of my steam library besides what I listed above would be nice.

I am willing too trade Battery Life for High Performance is necessary. The main reason I am concerned about weight is primarily that it is hard for me too carry a heavy bag due to my physical handicap.

Thanks for your help! :)
