Hey, I am looking to buy a laptop. I will be starting Software Engineerin come September so I need to get something that has a 6 hour battery life, can run Eclipse/other programming tools and can casually play League of Legends(which will be the extent of the gaming done on this computer).
Country of purchase: Canada
Budget range: ~$600, max $750
Purpose (netbook, ultraportable, mainstream, gaming, desktop replacement, etc.): School-work(Software Engineering student, so Eclipse and other programming tools notes and such), Light gaming(League of Legends on low to medium), word processing.
Screen size preference: ~15, not too important
OS preference (Windows/ Mac/ Linux): Windows
Gaming requirements (example games and desired fps/settings): League of Legends is the only game I would casually play on this(I have a tower). 30~ FPS(not too important, just not lagging) on medium settings.
Performance requirements (video, CAD, etc.): As I said, light gaming, music etc.
Method of computer support (office supplier, college bookstore, self support): self support
Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business compatibility): Always liked Asus, have a grudge against HP(although I don't remember why I hate HP... I just know I do?)
Any particular style that you like (examples are great): Not really
Which of the following qualities would you prefer? (Choose one, the other, or balanced)
Long battery life -vs- Low weight: long battery life. need to get through college classes with frequent use throughout the day.
Build quality -vs- Low price: Between low price and balanced.
Low noise/heat -vs- High performance: balanced
Would you pay a premium for something that has:
High resolution screen: no
A great keyboard: no
A great touchpad/mouse buttons: no
Great audio: no
List any features that are critical: (e.g. Optical drive, USB 3.0, SD card slot, ethernet port, HDMI port, bluetooth, VGA port, removable battery, glossy screen, matte screen, etc.)
