I know asking for an ultraportable and hdmi/firewire ports is pushing it but is there anything?

Country of purchase: USA

  • Purpose (netbook, ultraportable, mainstream, gaming, desktop replacement, etc.): ultraportable/mainstream

  • Screen size preference: 15"-17"

  • OS preference (Windows/ Mac/ Linux): Windows

  • Gaming requirements (example games and desired fps/settings): No gaming needs

  • Performance requirements (video, CAD, etc.): video/photo-editing/datamoshing (GIMP, FFmpegX, and Avidemux)

  • Method of computer support (office supplier, college bookstore, self support): self

  • Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business compatibility): Dell/Lenovo (I get a discount on these two brands)

  • Any particular style that you like (examples are great): n/a

  • Which of the following qualities would you prefer? (Choose one, the other, or balanced)

  • Long battery life -vs- Low weight: low weight

  • Build quality -vs- Low price: Build quality

Would you pay a premium for something that has:

  • High resolution screen: Yes

  • A great keyboard: Yes but I don't need a number pad

  • A great touchpad/mouse buttons: no
