Looking to upgrade from my dumpy laptop I got back in 2010.

I'll mainly be using my laptop for school work and just general internet browsing. Nothing fancy really

Honestly what I'm looking to get is something VERY similar to a Macbook Air in that it is lightweight and has a really long battery life and can start-up almost instantly. Also looking for something with a similar simplistic design to the Macbook Air and that is lightweight and easy to carry around. Only thing holding me back from getting the Macbook Air is that I personally can't stand the Apple OS.

I'm fine with any screen size under 15"

I'd also love to be able to run some video games like FPS shooters and hack and slash games. But gaming at the moment is a LOW PRIORITY of mine and I'd rather have that long battery life rather than sacrificing it to be able to play games.

Price range is anything around $1000 or lower. Ideally I'd like to pay under $1000
