- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
1000-2000 USD (Closer to 1000 the better)
- Are you open to refurbs/used?
Yes.
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Traditional Form Factor - Not looking for 2-in-1 or ultraslim. Bonus points for fingerprint reader, but not required, no requirement for RBG or numberpad.
Build Quality - Looking for more durable solutions for on-the-go usage, especially hinge strength and durability.
Performance - Looking for decent performance specs, not intending to utilize for heavy gaming, however do expect 10-20 google tabs, video streaming, and microsoft office tasking with low gaming, or secondary function of medium gaming.
Battery life - looking for at minimum 2-3 hour battery life push goal to 5 . Goal here is something that I can use on the go first and foremost with possible lack of ability to find an outlet. Then when I can find said outlet, I can plug in and run games.
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Unimportant.
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
14 to maximum 16 inches.
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
No CAD, Video or Photo editing. Plan to utilize google chrome browser with intesive tab use.
Discord Steam intended to be background primary functions.
Gaming -
Most intesnsive game planned to run: Helldivers 2, Hell Let Loose, HOI 4, Mount and Blade, WARNO
More regular game programming: Starsector, Mud and Blood, Stardew Valley, Uboat, Ultimate Admiral Series, Nebulous Fleet Command - other misc. indie games.
- If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
All the games listed above. Goal to run at medium to high settings at 60-100 fps. Broadly speaking, mainly indie games, more RTS, TBS, RPG/Background games (Stardew Valley, Mud and Blood, Starsector, Factorio, Prison Architect), with capability to push for some FPS games or more resource intensive RTS games (Helldivers 2, Hell Let Loose, Mount and Blade or Warno).
Minimum requirements is to run the latter low intensity games, stretch goal is to run said FPS games.
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Recap above: Am looking for a build quality that is durable, with focus especially on hinge strength. USB A and C connecters, and HDMI/Display Port.
Non-deal breakers to include: Ethernet port, fingerprint reader.
Not heavily concerned with input devices, however do ask they are functional and doesn't have atrocious input lag or delay.
While discreetness is a nice thing to have, if capability needs louder fans that is not a deal breaker.
If possible, would like a computer that isn't atrociously difficult to repair if I need to replace the battery after 4 years.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
More than happy to take some input or perspective if these are unreasonable requests.
My intent here is to have an all around laptop which priority one would be work elsewhere capability with possible difficulty to be able to find outlets in for extended periods. Priority two would be gaming capability, with at minimum ability would allow me to run low to medium resource games.
Am open to exploring various brands, and would help. Heard alot of pros and cons and don't know what to filter out.
