Post Body

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Up to $1k USD
  • Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes, but with some type of warranty
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Priorities include long battery life, easy connectivity to WiFi (my current laptop frequently fails to open splash pages, and it's infuriating to connect to public WiFi), and some processing power (I use Microsoft Office, which is currently slow on my laptop). I also have several applications open at once (Teams, Zoom, Chrome/Google Docs). A fan to cool the laptop down and I like a touch-screen.
  • How important is weight and thinness to you? I travel a lot for work and would like a light-ish laptop. Light enough to carry in one hand
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Not picky on the screen size, but I would like a hinge that keeps the screen upright on its own.
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No gaming or photo/video editing, but I am a written content editor. I use Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, and Chrome, usually. I also watch Netflix and YouTube but don't upload content, usually.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/a
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Touch-screen; I use a Logitech mouse that uses a USB-A port, so I'd like at least 2 USB-A ports. But no, I'm pretty low-tech.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. I've used Macs in the past, and I'm ambivalent about Windows/Mac (though I do have an Android phone, and I like it a lot better than an iPhone). I used a Chromebook once like 10 years ago, so I don't know if they'd suit my needs now. My current laptop isn't even a laptop; it's a Surface 3 with attached keyboard. So anything would be an upgrade.

TIA for your help! Please be gentle : )
