Post Body

  • Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
    1000€, will buy from France
  • Are you open to refurbs/used?
    No
  • How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Form factor's not much of an issue. Build quality = Performance = Battery life. Ideally, battery life should last me a day on medium workload
  • How important is weight and thinness to you?
Would prefer something light. Previous laptops used include Dell XPS 13 (1st gen), Microsoft Surface Pro 5. Current laptop is Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon.
  • Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
    13.3" - 14.0"
  • Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Currently, mostly MS Office, Edge, Origin Pro, video conferencing apps. Potentially some programming software in the near future.
  • If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
    Not gaming.
  • Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Good keyboard, clear web camera, good microphones, good port selection, VERY reliable build quality as my current Lenovo laptop is crap.
  • Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I'm currently a master student so most of my use case is on the academic side of things (i.e., document processing, data processing on Origin and Excel, video conferencing) and heavy web browsing. I want a laptop that won't make me run to the outlet all the time. I'm also very much into the Microsoft ecosystem so I'm veering away from a Mac
