Five days ago, I conducted an informal survey HERE to get an idea of how many of our members had been victimized while using sugaring sites such as Seeking.
Sugaring gets glamorized on Tiktok and other social media and too many starry eyed naive young women think they will find a kind older man who will shower them with presents on those apps.
The so called influencers talk a good game about "finessing" and "platonic" but generally omit to tell them that sites like Seeking are a magnet for predators and scam artists.
I wanted to break down the results of our poll and maybe add this post to either the tips for new and not so new SBs or the vetting, safety and avoiding bad actors sections of our Wiki.
385 people answered the poll of which 256 used sugaring sites such as Seeking, Secret Benefits, SDM etc.
Of those 256 women, 45% (115) were thankfully never victimized meaning that 55% (141) were.
8.3% (21) were sexually assaulted
27.4% (70) were scammed which includes not getting their ppm at the end of an intimate date
4.5% (12) were stalked, threatened, blackmailed or doxxed
and finally 14.8% (38) had several of the above happen to them.
Those results are even worst than I anticipated, I thought that maybe 1/3 of women would have ran into a bad actor.
If you are brand new and heard about sugaring from Tiktok or other sources which paint a nice glossy picture of the bowl, keep those numbers in mind and make sure to read our Wiki and learn to be street smart.
It is not all Cartier, unicorns and rainbows out there.
