Iām not Muslim, so make it of as you will, but doesnāt it strike anyone else just how needlessly cruel the idea of eternal torture is, especially with a deity described as being the most beneficent and merciful? Yes thereās a need for justice, but how is punishing someone eternally for a finite crime remotely just? Iāve also heard the argument that respecting free-will means that God wonāt impose his Presence on those whoāve spent their lives rejecting it - but I donāt think itās that simple. Most people donāt āknow Godā because life is complicated and confusing. Weāre thrust into the world without warning or any real guidance, and the fact that we live like thereās no God watching is a natural consequence of that, not some defect in us.
