Iâm a 21yo college student. My major is English Education (7-12). I was supposed to sub a half day, 10th grade high school year book class. I ended up receiving a phone call the evening before asking if I could âbounce on over to the elementary school for a full day instead.â Sure thing.
I taught a full day of second graders completed blind with no experience. I had them for about 45 minutes before they went to P.E. Getting them to line up felt like rocket science. They. Just. Donât. Listen. I used the attention grabber a million times. I kept hearing âYOURE DOING THIS WRONG⌠MRS XYZâ and the line âI am the teacher todayâ just did not work. I never yelled, but good god I found my teacher voice real fuckin quick.
Here were my failures: -the sub sent me a pic of a spelling test the morning of and said the high lighted ones are for Timothy (fake name) the rest of the class does the others. Iâm doing the spelling test, at the bottom they were supposed to write sentences, and I had no instruction so I just said ok guys, letâs turn them in, because I knew if I turned my back to look for info on it, they would go feral and I was fighting for my life to get them to shut up for the test. HOURS later I looked at that photo and fuck. There they were. Hate myself.
-3/4 of the way to the cafeteria, âMr. ICantRecallMyRedditUsernameRn, I ainât got no shoes onâ and he fucking didnât.
No Shoes Kiddo got sent to the office and then came back and was worse. Another teacher sent him to the office.
I didnât know where anything was, I got there early enough to look but other teachers kept making polite small talk
other teachers kept having to tell the kids to shut up
Man I messed up and I feel AWFUL
