Is it rude if I can ask if I can leave?

Post Body
Subbing for a music class, and I don’t have classes for the last 40 minutes of the day, as it’s the teacher’s prep time. In the other school districts I sub in, I’m allowed to leave whenever this happens. This is the first time subbing in a class like this in this district and so I am not sure if there’s a policy against that. Do you think it’d be ok to ask? Or is that rude?
Comments
I was reported for asking if I could leave and no kids were in school by that time.
