I love subbing

Post Body

Itā€™s so confusing seeing all these negative posts on here talking about all these reasons why people hate subbing. I started subbing this year and I fell in love with it and itā€™s making me reconsider my career choice form nursing, to possibly getting an education degree. I mainly sub for high school and middle school (I have an elementary school job coming up this month too) and itā€™s been such a joy. Donā€™t get me wrong, thereā€™s always one or two kids that are disruptive and try and test their boundaries with me, but I have tattoos, piercings, I look younger so Iā€™m able to be strict but still the ā€œcoolā€ teacher, and the ability Iā€™ve had to make some connections with these kids has really made this so wonderful as a job. Iā€™ve worked at a magnet school, normal schools, and alternative schools and I have no complaints. The other teachers so far have been super kind and helpful, admin has been chill and helpful, and I live in a small enough district that Iā€™m only subbing at 4-6 different schools so far and Iā€™m able to build those connections and be a familiar face in the halls and classes. I can understand some peoples grievances they are explaining about subbing, but Iā€™ve been so lucky to be in the city and district Iā€™m in. Anyone else really love subbing? Or am I just some random anomaly? Also, if you donā€™t like working with kids, why get into subbing? I see so many people talking about ā€œkids are so bad these daysā€ blah blah blah, and honestly, (Iā€™m 30), they really arenā€™t all that different from when I was in school. You just have to have some base level of empathy and ability to be their teacher so you have that respect from them, but also someone they can relate to so they feel comfortable enough to let out their personality and contribute to the classroom in a positive way. Like I said, Iā€™ve worked in alternative schools where the kids that get kicked out of the normal schools go to, and itā€™s the same thing there. Iā€™ve never had any major issues so far. I am excited about work, and at the end of the day it doesnā€™t even feel like work tbh

Is this the corporate plant? I feel like this post is an inch away from telling us subs don't need to unionize.

This post sounds like my contractor wrote it.
