I am in my third year of subbing now, and starting last year I decided to only do high school sub jobs (I did 4th and up last year). I haven’t regretted it since, although often I wish the pay was better. My experience has been so different from what some of you have posted about! The staff at the three schools are always happy to see me, I rarely have any issues with the students (none yet that made me even think about calling the office), in fact a lot of the students are happy to see me subbing for their teacher. Most days, I just introduce myself at the beginning of the period, tell them what the teacher Wanda even to do, sometimes hand out worksheets, take attendance, and the rest of the period is telling them if they can or can’t go to the restroom when they ask. For todays job the teacher wrote everything out on the board! It’s the easiest job I’ve ever had, to be honest. I don’t think I was truly aware of just how good I have it here until I started reading your posts. So thank you for some perspective.
