Voxels fly as r/Cubeworld descends into anarchy upon Steam Release.
Post Body

For those of you who may not caught wind of it's other recent appearance on SRD, Cube World is a voxel based exploration RPG (Think Minecraft with quests) that has been in development hell for 6 years, due to having a dev team of 2 (Wollay, and his wife Pixxie). A few weeks ago out of the blue it was announced that this long forgotten game will finally be released. The beta was released, and fans were divided due to changes in the system and what was seen as a beautiful but bare bones game. Hope sprung eternal that when the game was officially released on steam, that there would be some major changes or update to make the game worth buying.

Spoilers: There weren't.

This has caused the subreddit to melt down, the dumpster fire which had gasoline poured on it when Wollay deleted the game's blog, and Pixxie started deleting posts in the Steam Forums.

Some highlights (but really any thread with more than 20 posts in the subreddit will bring you to some juicy drama.

The post about Wollay's Dev Blog being deleted is delightful.

A Conversation on if criticism is useful.

Is Wollay playing the victim?

This entire post is pretty nice, but some key threads:

Some people are very angry over the whole situation.

Wollay is a genius if his goal was to make money.... For keeping promises and being a decent human being? Not so much.

Wollay's defenders also feel strongly

Posts asking where Wollay has gone, is just like stabbing someone in the chest and asking them why they are coughing.

Lots of people think he just took the money and ran

Happily enjoying his millions he made from people who were suckered into buying the game and now never returning to the internet under that name again.

Scammed to the max!

Some other highlights include:

Anger about game reviews!

To be completely honest, this PC Gamer review was an absolute dumpster fire. Yeah, it shows that the game lacks basic tutorials, but it also shows that the dude who made it probably never played another game in his life.

This thread is @ing the people who are clinging to the hopes that updates can fix everything.

For my part, I bought the game for 15 buck like 7 years ago, and just on the amount of popcorn alone from the long wait, to the return, to the beta and now this, is worth the price of admission alone.
