I just switched from Suboxone to Sublocade a week ago. I didnt want to, but had to because the Suboxone was destroying my teeth, & giving me sores in my mouth, & I'm getting bone grafting soon for dental implants. I was down to 6mg of Suboxone. My Dr. started me on 300mg Sublocade. I can tell it's too much because I have fibromyalgia, & whenever I overdo anything it gets triggered. It's sort of paradoxical, but somehow large doses of opiods make me experience more pain. I asked my Dr. about weaning down, & he told me that's not how it works. He mentioned something called protracted withdrawal, which I think Ive already experienced before. After being hospitalized w/precipitated withdrawal the day I switched from Methadone to Suboxone, I felt like I was in a more mild withdrawal for over a month until it dissipated. I dont understand why either of those things happened because I did everything the way my Dr. told me to. Anyway, my Dr. said that to avoid the protracted withdrawal when I want to get off Sublocade I'd have to just stop getting the shot. This doesn't make any sense to me. Is this true? If so, can someone help me understand why?
