Wireless CarPlay on a 2023 Crosstrek loaner?

I've got a 2023 Crosstrek as a loaner while my '03 Legacy is in the shop for that. I'd really prefer to connect my iPhone to CarPlay wirelessly if possible. I was able to pair with bluetooth, but obviously did not let it sync contacts. It doesn't seem to want to do CarPlay while connected to Bluetooth. I haven't yet tried to turn on the hotspot on my phone yet. Will that work?
