The no spam rule lately has been creating massive amounts of reports and mod mail. I am more than happy to continue to deal with these as we have been however I want to get opinions on if the community wants us to continue to deal with the spam reports we get in the way they have. Spam falls into a number of categories and gets dealt with a little different. Two that we won't change are:
Doms looking for subs - we will continue to ban these posters with great joy.
Subs looking for doms - these posts we will continue to remove.
The ones I want some opinions on are:
- OF and other content creators - currently we are just removing these posts. Do we want to take a harder line and move it to a bannable offence or keep on doing the same.
I also get two types of requests to post in our community. So far I have taken a hard no line on these for 2 reasons. One is that it is a discussion based community and the other being that the person asking to post is not always (and often isn't) a sub and that just does not feel in the spirit of the community to me (maybe I am wrong - I can handle opinions even harsh ones I promise). These requests come in 2 varieties typically:
Products that someone has developed and wants to market to subs. Usually in the form of toys or training tools of some variety.
Websites/apps/resources people want to market to our community. These are never sub specific and often not developed by a sub.
If these are things we see value in as a community being posted here I am more than willing to change my stance. If the majority of people feel as I do I will continue to tell them the post does not belong in this specific space.
Any and all opinions/comments are appreciated. Let's hear how we all feel.
Edit: so it seems clear that we want to continue to turn down promoting products and sites/apps developed by others so we will continue to do so. OF creators ads we will always remove and ban as needed (if promotion is all the account does it's not needed here). People who happen to be content creators are more than welcome to contribute to discussions and post questions, just not advertise.
Thank you all for the input.
Self promotion takes place all across reddit. I'm very much in favor of maintaining that hard no in this space in order to prevent content and information from taking the backseat.
