Yearly Immigration Check by University for nonEU students?

Hi, Ive read that there is a yearly check by the universities for non eu students every study year where you have to resubmit your financial evidences and all. My question is will my fathers bank statement from abroad suffice as evidence for financial guarantee from second year and onwards?
