Parents cosigning a refinanced student loan
Post Body

I have some questions about cosigning. I have some student loans I want to refinance. My parents had to cosign the original student loans and I am wondering how refinancing them will affect my parents and their credit. I would like to have my parents cosign my refinanced loan to get a lower interest rate. Since my parents were cosigners on the original loans, if they cosign my refinanced loan, how does that affect their credit? I would imagine it doesn't really have an affect as long as I continue to make my payments on time, but I'm unsure if there are any consequences I may not know about. If my parents were to not cosign my refinanced loan, wouldn't that release them from the original loan?
