TPD Discharge Monitoring question

Post Body

Hello. I received the following message from Nelnet which makes no sense considering that TPD monitoring has been waived for the past few years. They are telling me when my monitoring ends I need to submit my complete employment income from 2021 or a handwritten letter which sounds insane. I haven’t seen anywhere where you have to submit verification AFTER your monitoring period is over to complete it. As far as I know once your three years is up it’s completely discharged.

This is the letter I got:

“Thank you for contacting us.

Your conditional discharge monitoring period ends on 5/9/2024.

To complete the discharge process, please provide proof of employment income for the period of 5/10/2021 – 5/9/2024.

If you did not earn income from employment, please provide a signed statement indicating so. Be sure to include your account number, handwritten signature, date, and the time period for which no employment income was earned. After you send proof of your employment income, or a letter certifying no employment income was earned, we will process your permanent discharge. Once a determination has been made, you will be notified via mail. “

Can anyone help explain or do I even need to do this to to finish TPD discharge? I feel like they are just attempting to try to set me up and find something wrong.
