I can't tell if farmers carries are worth it to improve your squat? I am not a strong man, just a football player trying to improve my squats and power cleans for football.

I am trying to improve both my power clean max numbers as well as my overall squat numbers. What I have tried doing is squatting heavy once a week and then on my other days adding farmers carries to my routine. I am not certain if the farmer's carries are helpful to improving the squat or if I am better off doing something else.
