I have been dancing for a little over a year, and I look fairly alternative (side shave, dyed hair, nipple piercings, a few small tattoos) and I'm thinking of changing it to be more "normal" for the masses. However, that doesn't feel like me and I worry it'll feel foreign and icky off the clock. I want to appeal to my niches instead of just anyone, but I also want to be successful and I love dancing. Dancing while looking and feeling like my real self matters, but does it matter enough to potentially hinder normalcy profits? I am really not sure.
I am thinking of dying my hair black/blonde and showing House Moms and managers what I am also capable of looking like to see if they would want that niche even in their club, but that feels like it could backfire and that's a scary thing to think about.
Thoughts? Be brutally honest please!
