I had to travel back home because my mom was in the hospital. I took my silicone tunnels (5/8ā abt 15mm) out before a shower, I didnāt put them back in for almost a week because I lost my oil and was just busy/stressed. I put them back in when I found the oil but I didnāt oil and clean them daily because I lost it again, and while they were slightly sore they really werenāt bothering me. Fast forward however many days (literally cannot remember) since I put them in and I took them out when I showered today. -thatās when I realized how fucked they were. Obviously like pus/discharge was on my tunnels and ears. They didnāt appear to be bleeding, but were sore. Took a shower, cleaned my lobes with antibacterial hand soap -I donāt think I was super rough with them but when I got out the shower they were bleeding, red, and slightly swollen. I put jojoba oil and neosporin on them this morning. Throughout the day I would use tissues to soak up the discharge and reapply the neosporin. The worse lobe (right picture) started to sort of stick together in the wrong places and this is what prompted me to cut up cotton pads, rolled them up, and put them in my lobes with neosporin to help them heal properly and soak up some of the discharge. (I have decided to skip the jojoba oil for now.) And all this comes after my mom passed away early this week. š®āšØ
TL;DR
I WRECKED my ears this week after my mom died. I mostly wanted to vent -but Iāve never dealt with anything this bad so any advice is appreciated!
So sorry for your loss gnomie. I would definitely take those out ASAP, tissue/cotton balls can be abrasive when your skin is irritated and healing, plus they can easily introduce bacteria and infection. Your lobes wonāt stick together and heal stuck like that, but you can gently massage/play with your lobes 2-3 times a day for peace of mind to make sure the hole is still there lol (and to encourage blood flow and healing). If you really donāt want to leave them empty, put in single flare glass or steel plugs of a smaller size until they completely heal.
