How do you avoid getting vit E oil on non stretched piercings?

I'm currently just starting my stretching journey, both lobes are only 2mm but I vit E oil them every day because I go swimming and chlorine can obviously dry out the lobes (they are under my swim cap but they still get wet).

However I also have a fresh 3rd lobe piercing and it's NOT happy. I have 3 healed lobe piercings and this is my 4th, I've never had a difficulty with lobes before (or any others for that matter, I have 5 lip piercings, 2 cartilage, a bridge and two eyebrows) I'm pretty sure it's getting irritated my the oil, although I clean it with saline regularly. I don't intend to stretch this one, it's a standard 1.2mm and I have my extra lobes so I can wear normal earrings and aren't limited to plugs.

I do have stretching balm which is obviously easier to control than the oil but I think the vit E is better at rehydration my skin after swimming (I swim 1-2 hours every day sometimes 3 or 4 on weekends)

Are you sure it’s the oil that’s irritating the new piercing, or the chemicals from the pool (or even prolonged water exposure)? If possible I’d avoid submerging any new piercings until they’re fully healed.

Also, my third lobes were way harder to keep happy than my first/seconds. It’s more like healing a cartilage piercing. It took about a year for each of them to calm down!
