Recently moved up to 8mm (0g) and my 8mm plugs and tunnels feel loose

So I finally made the leap to 8mm after a few years. My 8mm tunnels are single flare, and the lip will sometimes pop into the hole, usually while I am sleeping or laying in it. I never noticed this with the smaller sizes. Its not loose enough to fit a 10mm, but it feels like its weirdly in between? Ive been on 8mm for about 2 months so I know its not time to move onto 10mm yet, but just kind of trying to crowd source if others might have experienced this, and any general advice in this regard.
