Just wanted to explore very headcanon ideas for Ryu changes in future patches of the game. This isn’t meant to just be me ranting that Ryu needs a buff for the competitive scene. But also just to see what changes could make Ryu more creative, fun or thematically cool, although you’d want these changes to be good for ryu’s balance for sure. Would be interested in hearing other thoughts.
Generally if Ryu is going to get new tools, I’d want it to be in denjin mode so that he can keep his over simple style, but just add some extra spice.
I have a few options for changes
Give each denjin move light and heavy versions. Denjin hashogeki and hadouken only have one version, but by creating different versions, you could give Ryu many new tools. Keep the existing denjin moves as the medium version though. Maybe light could be a pole tool in neutral or heavy denjin hashogeki could do some crazy otg stuff, I dunno. But it would give him 4 or so new tools which would be cool
Improve his denjin supers. Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity that Capcom only buffed the damage a bit. Honestly it’s almost bad to use denjin on your supers I’d say. Maybe have denjin supers get more utility somehow? Better frame data? Maybe improve their combo ability e.g. anti air shoryuken into denjin hadouken like the previous sf games?
Give denjin a passive trait? I don’t know. Like, if Ryu is in denjin mode and is not moving forward or back in any way, he gains drive back quicker? Would fit with the power of nothingness. OR just buff some normals in denjin mode only but that’s boring imo
