Picking up Manon, how do I best mashing without a reversal?

Post Body

Been playing versus games for the last decade but somewhat new to SF. I got My JP pretty solid and want Manon as My backup.

The only two people I play with regularly are new to fighting games. I’ve been trying to teach them fighting game basics, but they mostly mash anyway. They are smart enough to OD-DP to break pressure, mix in grabs for Oki and basics like that. I am having trouble on wake up or close neutral since they are either spamming jab, grab, or OD DP at what feels like random which makes it hard to adapt.

With jp I have zoning and his counter to deal with that but with Manon, it feels like all My buttons are getting stuffed. Any advice on what I’m missing here would be good.

Yeah that’s kind of My problem I think. I keep trying to play with mix ups, and setups that would work against normal players but then get smacked haha

Yeah I oki pretty consistently but get caught by a invincible reversal sometimes. I think I’m getting frame trapped often by Kens kick special with multiple endings. Keep getting hit when trying to punish it.
