So, when I watched season 4 volume 1, and Nancy announced to the group that she was going to the asylum as Ruth, the first thing that came to my mind was the infamous in that era sex therapist Dr. Ruth. The tiny little German therapist who was all the rage back in the day because of all her sex advice on tv shows. Plus, Nancy and Robin were playing psychology students, so I don't know if that was also a throwback from the Duffer brothers to the famous Dr. Ruth. I was a kid growing up in the 80's but I remember hearing a lot about her.
