EDIT - Self-pity was a poor way to put it and, as many have pointed put, depression would have been a far better way to phrase it. Thanks for all the feedback.
Hi all. I’m 12 chapters deep into ROW and love the series but Kaladin’s depression, demotion and the ongoing, well, whining is making things an absolute grind. The huge amounts of ‘shame poor me’ is getting to be so grating I’m considering shelving the book for a while.
Don’t need to know what happens but I wanted to ask if the self-pity continues to be a major focus throughout the entirety of the book or should I keep going?
Please don’t be mean in the comments. I love how Brandon weaves real-life battles like drug addiction, PTSD and schizophrenia into the story, I’m just struggling to power through the self-pitying narrative of this character in particular and am curious as to how much his POV dominates the entire book.
