(Cosmere) Zahel sucked away Kal SL

So there’s a scene in WoR where Zahel is trying to train Kaladin with the blade and Kal Adolin get into a fight.
Kal gets thrashed but then sucks in SL to go back at Adolin when all of a sudden he is instantly drained, ironically he makes a comment about not letting them take his power away from him and not letting anyone notice but it really seems like it was Zahel who took the power from him here.
I’ve read all of SA so far this is a re read, something I didn’t notice on the first read.
