I've checked the FAQ and not found anything along these lines. I'm set to begin Vyvanse soon for an ADHD diagnosis. I'm not 100% onboard with the idea of symptoms being caused by inborn faulty brain wiring that requires chemicals to fix, I've been badly hurt by psychiatry in the past and generally don't trust the biomedical model.
However, mainstream discourse seems to suggest that this time it will be great because these are the "right" drugs and the "right" diagnosis... I keep hearing these claims that the drugs are extensively studied and totally safe and will improve my life yada yada.
But I'd like to hear the other side - the risks. This sub seems to be the place people are ending up after learning the hard way. What did stimulants actually do to you? What do you wish you'd known before you ever started? Do you think these always end badly for everyone or only certain people are susceptible to their harms?
I appreciate any input and anyone who shares their experience and knowledge.
