I would love to hear personal experiences if you have any to share.
My cravings are much easier to resist/manage than they were for the first four weeks since I’ve been clean. They don’t last as long, they’re not as often, nor as strong, and I’ve developed skills to handle them.
They have their ups and downs tho. My cravings were dying down last week, but they’ve recently amplified. I’m stressed so I think that may be why. At first, my cravings felt like a physiological need. This is no longer true, but triggers still induce cravings for me.
It’s getting easier for me to identify/deal with my triggers, but I think I still need work in this area. Intense emotions are a trigger for me and I still struggle to regulate them (at least I’m no longer in withdrawal. My mood swings were wild and got me into trouble at work lol.)
I’ve read that cravings are the worst for the first 5 weeks then tend to dissipate. I’d love to hear counter-examples.
I’m just wondering if my cravings will ever go away or if it’s just something I’ll have to deal with for the rest of my life.
