15 months off amphetamine stimulant medications, and had to go on this until we can figure out my crippling sleep issues which are likely apnea from having a huge thyroid tumor (meet with surgeon next week)
All the wakefulness of amphetamines with none of the mood lifting effects
it doesn’t give you motivation: it just makes you alert enough to do things that you weren’t doing due to fatigue
you may be awake, but you won’t be much brighter if you’re sleep deprived. It doesn’t work like amphetamines in the sense that you get a short performance boost
it does strongly enhance focus
it doesn’t make things more enjoyable, it actually makes a lot of things less enjoyable…. When on it I’m not social and have no desire to do anything fun. It sort of causes flatness.
while it doesn’t create motivation or make things enjoyable, it does help me write. But I used to write a lot before so it may just be because I’m not tired…. Or maybe because everything else seems boring and I’m focused and alert I’m able to actually be productive
One thing I hate is that although you can’t sleep when on it, it can leave you like a zombie because you’re still sleep deprived. You’re in this alert but zombie limbo. Yes, that’s why I’m on it, but it sucks.
I can’t imagine who would enjoy this drug or why on earth anyone would abuse it.
And I wouldn’t pick it up if you’re well into recovery.
However, if I were deep into amphetamine dependence and struggling to get clean, I would at least talk to my doctor about it.
Just my thoughts. Looking forward to being off this stuff.
