What would Marcus Aurelius say about remaining friends after a breakup?

Post Body

For context, I was broken up with...

Post-breakup sort of dove into Stoicism/Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. The consensus seems to be completely break it off, ex's can't be friends. But I get tripped up when Aurelius says everything depends on how you interpret it and that the noblest form of retribution is not to become your enemy.

He also stresses not retreating from the world, especially when people make mistakes/unkind.

Last, he says have self respect and always ask if you're respecting yourself. So is remaining friends with someone who essentially hurt me, considered not respecting myself? Thanks!
