I am a PhD student and I feel like I am barely holding myself together sometimes. In a month is when I give my PhD research proposal and the candidacy exam and I am feeling uncomfortable about it all. I am doubting if I can really achieve candidacy and demonstrate my knowledge orally in a confident manner. Just thinking about all the things I need to work on and study between now and then (my project, writing the proposal, the exam) leaves me frozen in the flight or fight response too often, and thus instead of working on something my work stalls.
Has anyone found success practicing Stoicism in grad school?
