Linux.
Worse for me than the drugs, alcohol, Tinder warmongering and questionable unprotected hookups and other vices has been the decision to install Linux.
Linux is great, it's amazing when you get it to work. And it's not hard to get it to work with Linux Mint. But due to a mix of the Dunning-Krueger effect and sheer fucking tweaking, I immediately broke the thing, blamed it on some super malware (me), spent 2 months chasing ghosts, wasted my time doing whatever idiot sandwich tinkering instead of learning the proper way (like by reading a book????). I could've watched a youtube video, but no, I learned about what a block device is or does by fucking it up impulsively and then going boohoo why can't I boot anymore waaaaaaaah.
This cautionary tale also applies to other tweak-baits such as the Windows Registry (oh lord), iOS analytics logs (not human readable, yet its like a god damn novel in there), or anything on your router's admin page (you're gonna miss having internet).
Thank you all. I've got to go back to scheming a way to set up PXE for my PC (which doesn't have a OS anymore, guess why) using just my phone and my router. But hey, I'm reading manuals now. Plus I have one less vice to worry about.
(If anyone has advice pls help)
