I know there are people that have been abusing stims for 20 years. I'm not sure how they are doing mentally, physically, and all that, but I'm sure some have been able to mitigate the damage through proper eating, sleep, vitamins and minerals, exercise, etc.
But I wonder if any of you have able to give up abusing stims and now just take them as prescribed or therapeutically (say, to get through work/college with focus). "ADHD" stims aren't just prescribed for ADHD, but a range of other issues including binge eating disorder, depression and narcolepsy. Maybe there are people that found the stim helpful for depression when not abused. Maybe someone just got tired of wasting their meds, started taking them as prescribed and their ADHD is under control now, with purpose and order in their lives.
If you have a story, feel free to share, whether you could do this or not.
