Greatly reducing my stimulant intake

I wanted to share my current journey in reducing my stimulant intake, and hopefully, connect with others who might have similar experiences or advice to share. For a while, I was taking a combination of 30mg Adderall and 70mg Vyvanse daily to manage my ADHD. While these medications have helped in some ways, I’ve become increasingly concerned about their long-term effects and dependency.

A few weeks ago, I made the decision to cut back significantly. I’m now down to just 30mg of Vyvanse daily. This reduction hasn't been a walk in the park, and I’ve faced some challenges, particularly with maintaining energy levels and focus throughout the day.

To help manage this transition, I’ve incorporated caffeine and L-tyrosine into my routine. Here’s how it’s been going.

I’ve been using moderate amounts of caffeine, primarily through coffee and green tea. It helps give me a needed boost, especially in the morning. I’m careful not to overdo it to avoid jitteriness and crashes. L-tyrosine has been somewhat helpful. It’s supposed to support dopamine production, which I figured might aid in offsetting the reduction in stimulant medication. I’ve noticed slight improvements in my mood and energy, but it’s not a miracle cure.

Overall, the experience has been mixed. There are good days and bad days, but I feel positive about moving towards a lower reliance on prescription stimulants. My sleep has improved, and I’m starting to feel more “myself” without the constant presence of high-dose stimulants in my system.

If anyone here has gone through something similar or has any tips on managing this kind of transition, I’d love to hear from you. Particularly interested in hearing about other natural supplements, lifestyle changes, or coping mechanisms that have worked for you.

Thanks for reading and for any advice or shared experiences!
