Stims were widely used in both World Wars 1 and 2 (among other types of drugs). The British gave their military cocaine in WW1. In WW2, the Nazis were on meth, and later the British and Americans started to supply their troops with amphetamine.
It was thought that the use of stimulants such as these would enable soldiers to remain more alert, reduce their anxiety, and allow them to stay awake for days. And herein lies the problem. When you're giving people stimulants while neglecting the importance of sleep, you soon start to witness the negative aspects of such practices, such as paranoia and hallucinations. If I remember correctly, the paranoia and/or psychosis even led to the murders of fellow brothers-in-arms in WW2.
If you were on the military council and had the deciding vote, which stim would you vote for, if any? Any why? I know many of you like meth. But think of it from a strategic standpoint - do you really want your men spun while on a key mission? Also, consider the effects on these men and women (and society at large) after the war ends.
