Using my personal DAC/AMP with speakers that have built in DAC/AMP....?

Post Body

Hey everyone,

First, I'm very new to this audiophile thing as well as the community, so please be gentle. I've done quite a bit of searches and research, but I haven't really seen the question laid out as simple as this and they often go into terms and additional subjects that I have no clue about, but like I said I'm slowly learning. I own a JDS Labs MK2 Element III. A really awesome DAC/AMP combo with a great big volume knob and a headphone jack front and center instead of in the back of a speaker. I'm thinking of purchasing a pair of Audioengine speakers such as the HD3 or perhaps even the S5 both would be paired with an S8 subwoofer. Can I pair my JDS Labs with one of these high reviewed speakers even know they already have a built in DAC/AMP? Is there any distortion issues that could potentially happen or some other issue I may be unaware of? Also another beginner question.... just so I'm clear, which port does the DAC plug into on the speakers themselves? I just wanna make sure if I need an adapter or something I have it. Thanks in advance guys and glad to be a part of the community. Hoping to learn and become much more knowledgable about these subjects from you all.
